In terms of temperature, July was warmer (+0.9 C) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010) for the province. Precipitation in July continued to be on the dry side with 85 % of the 30-year climate normal.  We have yet to see a month in 2020 with above normal precipitation and the last time this happened was December 2019.

After a month of May that saw climate extremes ranging from record snowfalls to record heat, June kept up the climate extremes and brought more record heat and record drought. 

Four sites surpassed their all-time maximum temperatures and several sites also reported their driest or top 5 driest month on record.

Spring (March, April, and May) 2020 in New Brunswick was slightly cooler (-0.3°C) and drier (73%) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010).

April was cooler (-0.9 C) and drier (83 %) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010) for the province. 

March was slightly warmer (+0.4 C) and much drier (65 %) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010) for the province.

Winter (December, January, and February) 2019/2020 in New Brunswick was warmer (+1.6°C) and slightly drier (92%) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010).

February was slightly warmer (+1.0 C) and slightly drier (92 %) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010) for the province.

January was warmer (+2.8 C) and drier (72 %) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010) for the province.

Fall (September, October, and November) 2019 in New Brunswick was slightly cooler (-0.7°C) and wetter (131%) than the 30-year climate normal (1981-2010).  Please see attached for the detailed Fall 2019 report and an outlook for Winter 2019/2020.
